Year: 1986
Make / Model: Porsche 944 Turbo (Race/Track)
You are looking at a recent 1986 944 Turbo race car build. This track car started out as a daily driver for weekend track events that transformed into what you see now. It’s built following SP3 rules for NASA & PCA. Since the current owner purchased it and started the build it has had zero track hours or shakedown. The car will need a fresh log book for the current build.
The exterior was painted in Porsche Mexico Blue, single stage urethane paint and added vinyl graphics with numbers. The sunroof/moonroof was completely deleted and a custom roof panel was fabricated in place. Front and rear glass are OEM, with front windshield using custom hold down tabs for easy windshield removal if needed. Front bumper, front valence and hood are lightweight fiberglass and hood panel utilizes Aerocatch quick release pins. Headlights are GTP style for a clean look. Side quarter windows have been replaced with lightweight lexan that have integrated NACA ducts.
The interior has been painted in a single stage Porsche white and features a 6 point weld-in roll cage based on SCCA rule-book specifications from 2018/2019. Wiring has been cleaned up and hidden for a clean look inside. A lightweight fiberglass dashboard was fitted and wrapped with 3M carbon fiber film. A new AIM dash data logger was installed. A new MOMO daytona seat with halo protection and 6 point harness installed. The seat is fixed to the floor (no slider) with a custom bottom floor support made. This was made for the current owner for his comfort. Driver window net with quick release latch and center driver net with quick release latch are in place.
A new Sparco 5lb dual pull extinguisher system is in place with 3 points of spray (rear tank, interior, engine). A coolshirt pro air and water system with dual temperature control switch are installed.
The engine had a refresh in 2019 that included the following: cylinder head rebuilt with Lindsey Racing valve train, new main bearings and crankshaft bearings with ARP hardware, piston rings, balance shaft bearings, timing belt, water pump and associated gaskets & seals. Transmission, clutch and torque tube were not touched during the build. Upgraded fuel lines in engine bay and a Lindsey Racing clubsport wastegate are installed. All rubber coolant hoses and vacuum hoses were replaced with upgraded silicone versions. A new power steering pump was also fitted.
Suspension on vehicle will need a complete refresh; nothing was done with the suspension during the build. It has Bilstein shocks and sport springs from previous owner(s) and every other component is original 944 Turbo. Nothing was put into the suspension during the current ownership and build.
Brakes are original 944 Turbo and recently had new pads and brake rotors installed along with braided brake lines, new master cylinder & booster and flushed with castrol SRF race brake fluid. Front and rear brakes have custom air ducts for some improved cooling.
Two sets of wheels; one set of Fuchs refinished in black texture with R compound tires; one set of phone dial wheels with street tires.
